Happy Holidays
Oil on board
12x12 with balck floater frame.
My husband was the youngest of 7 kids.
When we first started dating, he told me about his favorite Thanksgiving tradition.
His mom would wake up before the sun and loudly play Christmas music! It kicked off the holiday season.
When we had kids, he started the same tradition.
No Christmas music is listened to until Thanksgiving morning. It's a little harder these days since stores and radio stations start in early November.
I can remember one time we walked into a store when my daughter was 7 and she heard a Christmas song - she put her fingers in her ears and motioned for us to leave the store. I still laugh about that!
At 6am Thanksgiving morning you can hear the same song from my husband's childhood, "Happy Holidays", blasting from all the speakers in our house.
"Happy Holiday
Happy Holiday
Happy Holiday
Happy Holiday
While the merry
bells keep
ringing
Happy Holiday
to you"
The kids (adults) still come running down the hall to our room wide awake and excited!
The little things mean a lot.
Who would have guessed all these years later it's still such a cherished tradition.
